PRE ARRIVAL
When is the best time to arrange a golf tour in the UK and Ireland?
Traditionally the golf season runs from April to the end of September after which you run the risk of serious wind and rain. It is wise to pack waterproofs and some warm jumpers even between April and September. It is not unusual to experience five seasons in one day!!!
How do I book my tour?
Intelligent Step 1
If you do not have any definite ideas of which courses and destinations you would like to visit then please visit our “sample tours” and our “course guide” pages. As well as giving you some inspiration and ideas it is also worth visiting our “tour extras” page which displays the wide range of activities we offer away from the golf course.
Intelligent Step 2

Intelligent Step 3
On receiving your tour design we will contact you by email or telephone to confirm all aspects of your tour including that all important price.
Do you provide flights?
We recommend you contact your local travel agent to organise flights.
If possible we suggest you fly directly into Scotland thus avoiding the additional cost of transfers from London or any other location.
On arrival in Scotland you will be met by your tour manager who will escort you to your rental car or chauffeur driven coach.
We can organise internal transfers between Scotland, England and Ireland. Please contact us directly for more details.
Do you provide travel insurance?
We do not provide travel insurance at present however it is recommended that this is purchased in advance of your trip.
Can you transport my clubs?
Our courier partner FED EX can assist you in transporting your clubs from your home to your hotel destination. Please visit our “quick links” section on the right hand side and click on “club courier” link for more information.
Do I require a handicap certificate?
Yes, it is recommended that you travel with your golf handicap as some courses do require proof prior to playing including the Old Course at St Andrews.
For those who do not have a handicap we can arrange this for a small fee.
What documentation do I require?
The four most important pieces of documentation required are your passport, handicap certificate, driver’s licenced and travel insurance documents.
What deposit is required?
An initial deposit of 25% is required for each individual in the group.
When do I make the full payment?
Intelligent Step 1 – Confirm tour itinary with 25% deposit per person
Intelligent Step 2 - 8 weeks before tour start date pay 75% balance
Intelligent Step 3- Full tour details issued on receipt of full payment.
* If the tour is taking place within 8 weeks of the tour start date then full payment is expected immediately.
Credit Cards are subject to a surcharge.
What if I have to cancel my tour?
25% deposit per person is non refundable regardless of cancelation time.
Tours cancelled less than 8 weeks before the tour start date – 0% refundable.
Tours cancelled more than 8 weeks of the tour start date – 25% deposit refundable only.
What is the “price guarantee”?
If you choose to pay the price quoted for your holiday immediately you will be protected against future price increases or decreases as your original price is “locked down”.
If however you choose to pay your deposit then the balance at a later date you may be suceptable to currency price fluctuations. 8 weeks prior to your tour start date there will be a currency review. If there is a fluctuation + / - 1% based on www.xe.com rates, your tour balance will be adjusted accordingly.
What happens if Intelligent Golf Tours makes alterations to my tour?
In the case of minor alterations being necessary you will be offered a comparible alternative. If the alteration is major, alternative arrangements will be organized or a full
refund will be offered.
ARRIVAL
What happens when I arrive in Scotland and Ireland?
You will be met at the airport by your Tour Manager who will greet you then assist you to your chauffeur driven coach or hired car. Your Tour Manager can then be contacted 24 hours a day 7 days a week to provide any assistance you may require.
Can I get a caddie?
The majority of courses in Scotland do not have caddies. Those that do tend to be the Open Championship venues and those at the higher end of the cost scale.
On average expect to pay around £30.00 to £40.00 per round.
Can I get a golf cart in Scotland?
Again the majority of courses do not provide golf carts although it is becoming more popular. If it is completely necessary to have a cart please let us know at the time of booking and we will try to organise access where possible.
What are the dress code requirements?
Appropriate dress code should be adhered to at all times. Intelligent Golf Tours cannot take responsibility for guests who are refused entry to clubhouses or not permitted to play due to inappropriate dress.
Dress codes vary from course to course but a good rule of thumb is to avoid shorts and always wear a shirt with a collar.
